The Grasses You see Are Not Green

When last do you see
chameleons camouflaging?
It’s not their duty anymore

The grasses you see are not green
look deeply.
The roses you see are not red
and you, son of man,
you’re not whole
in control

Something trapped in a hole
is called a soul. That is why
you’re not in control of your soul.
Look deeply

All human beings
white or black
young or old
rich or poor
male or female; have sorrows
flowing

Some are sorrowed
for their kid is not growing

Some are sorrowed
for their migraine is not going

Some are sorrowed
for their lack of prudence

Some are sorrowed
for their lack of patience

Some are sorrowed
for their infidelities they can’t control

Even over-riches are causes of sorrow to some souls
if you care to know

Life isn’t what you think you see;
look deeply
for X is a fallen cross
and small letter “e”
is an overturned “G”
look deeply, you’ll see
you’re not a complete being_
parcels you’re delivering,
sinning, unforeseen contingencies plus
might be causes of it all. Ouch!

You’re pressed with anger now.
You wanna vomit wrath.
All taken from you are so much,
is it right
for you to know your rights? Yes.
In matters of life
you can’t sue GOD; no dey vex.

Samuel C. Enunwa aka samueldpoetry.

*”no dey vex” is a pidgin english meaning: cease your vexation.
