Dynamo-FC Dallas Preview

Despite allowing victory to slip away in their most recent contest, the Houston Dynamo are still a confident group.

The Dynamo look to run their unbeaten stretch to seven games when they visit rival FC Dallas, who will again be without one of its key contributors, on Saturday night.

Houston (3-5-2) has been one of the hottest teams in MLS, and had won three in a row before playing Colorado to a 1-1 road draw on Wednesday. Though the point earned is an obvious positive, the Dynamo appeared headed to victory on the back of Christian Ramirez’s 46th-minute goal until they conceded the equalizer in the sixth-minute of stoppage time.

“To come out of here with one goal and one point – obviously we’re a little disappointed, because if we’d waited another 15 seconds, we likely would’ve taken the three points,” first-year Dynamo coach Tab Ramos told the official website of MLS. “But, I think the one point is more than fair.

“I feel good about the team. We’re in a good spot. We’ve got ourselves in a playoff fight, which is where we want to be.”

Houston finds itself amid a 3-0-3 stretch, which included a scoreless draw against FC Dallas (2-2-4) when the league returned to regular-season play late last month.

That match with Houston was part of Dallas’ 1-0-3 stretch that ended with Wednesday’s 3-2 loss at Minnesota United FC. The host Loons were up 2-0 within the first half-hour, but FCD fought its was back to make things competitive thanks to goals from Ricardo Pepi and Santiago Mosquera.

Unfortunately for Dallas, it played a second straight match without talented forward Zdenek Ondrasek, who is tied for the team league with two goals in 2020. According to Dallas coach Luchi Gonzalez, Ondrasek is away from the club due to a family issue and it’s uncertain when he, or apparently if, will be back in the mix this season.

“I wish I could answer that. And, I wish I could count on him to be available,” Gonzalez told the official website of MLS. “There’s a family situation, a private situation that I can’t go into detail about, that just needs time to process. And I respect that and we respect that as a club. So, I’m not sure if we’ll see him soon or even again. That’s the reality of the situation, but I’m going to learn more each day.”
